Rewind to 3 weeks ago...it was the last week of school and I was putting the finishing touches on our summer schedule. I had lots of fun trips, water activities, art projects, science experiments and cooking/baking ideas planned. I was confident we were going to have an awesome summer. Then, on the last day of school, I fell down the steps and fractured my ankle :(
Facing an upcoming surgery and a cast for 6 weeks, I knew all that hard work of planning the best summer ever was quickly going down the drain! Even though I could still drive, there's no way to chase a toddler around on one foot, so all trips were obviously out.
I had my surgery a week later and we left for a week at the beach a few days after that. So now we are home and making the best of what definitely won't be the "Best Summer Ever" but with a few tweaks made to the calendar, we are going to give it our best effort. Our schedule consists of chores...because everyone's gotta pitch in now that Mom only has one good leg, constructive playtime...which means no electronics, and reading and writing time. I also have one special activity planned for each day. I'm going to try to document most activities to keep track of what we did this summer.
Monday- Water Balloons and Sprinkler
Jacob received the "bunch of balloons" for his birthday. Basically, it lets you fill 40 water balloons at one time. They worked pretty well. There were a couple of duds in each group of 40, but the boys had a blast throwing them. I don't think they are worth the $8, but it was a good 10 minutes of fun!
My scooter to get around the yard. Thanks for taking my picture Jacob!
Tuesday - Make a 4th of July Popsicle Stick Star Banner
Thursday - We made parachutes for the lego men and tossed them down from the playhouse.
Thursday night, Lucas had an ice cream date with Mommy and Daddy while Eric and Jacob went to the Reading Phillies with Grammy and Grandpa!
